Description

The Oval Dining Saarinen Tulip Table was part of Eero Saarinen’s Pedestal Series first introduced in New York in 1958.  Originally Eero Saarinen wanted to use plastics for the tulip-shaped base but settled on cast aluminum as he could not find the materials strong enough to support the variety of tops he used.  Initially, 10 different sizes of tables were introduced including side tables, coffee tables, and dining tables.  Each used either a round or oval base depending on its shape.  

Our Saarinen Tables are high quality 100% Italian-made reproductions of the original Saarinen Table. Close attention is paid to the workmanship of the stone and base creating a mid-century modern table meant to last for years. The Saarinen Table cast aluminum base is available in matte white or black, glossy white or black, or matte silver. The Saarinen Table top is available in a wide variety of stones and laminates, including the popular white Carrara and black Marquina. 

The Saarinen Table base is treated with a clear protective finish over tough epoxy paint meant to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs. Stone tops are protected with a natural wax finish.
