The Genni Lounge Ottoman was designed by Gabriele Mucchi in 1935 to complement the Genni Chair. This ottoman is striking in its formal elegance and surprising continuous modernity. It is made of bent and chromium-plated steel tube, a material symbolizing the language of designers associated with the movement of rationalist architecture. Despite being designed in the 1930s, the Genni Lounge Chair and Ottoman still impress today with its enduring contemporaneity and formal elegance. Gabriele Mucchi (1899–2002) was an Italian painter and a multifaceted artist. Mucchi was born into a patriotic and liberal family in Turin, Italy. His grandfather, Venceslao Mucchi, served as the president of the Court of Cassation in Turin, while his uncle Agostino was a conspirator alongside Ciro Menotti during the 1831 uprisings.  After graduating in architectural engineering from Bologna University in 1923, Mucchi initially pursued architecture. However, he soon shifted his focus to painting, following in the footsteps of his father, Antonio Maria.
